Here is some advance publicity for the 2010 course

Ballan Community House
Term 4: 2010
Life and Art: a six week course in art appreciation.
Week 1: Portraiture
Week 2: Landscape and Seascape
Week 3: Still Life and Patterns
Week 4: Fantasy and Symbols
Week 5: Light
Week 6: Windows
The course will explore each subject using painting and sculpture from Byzantine Art to art of about the mid 1970s. The role of art as a tool for living, or as a commentary on living, will be discussed in each session. The course follows broadly from the previous courses given at the Community House though it is not necessary that prospective students have attended either course. A knowledge of elementary art history and styles would be an advantage but is not necessary, as prospective students can access both of the previous courses via the Web to gain helpful knowledge and an indication of how the present course will run.
Those enrolling will need access to the Internet. Internet access is available at the Community House for those who are not on the internet at home. Prior to attending the first session students should have read through both the “Art and Life” and “Six Worlds of Art” presentations on the Tutor’s website.
